We are a UK based technology company revolutionising the gas industry. Our founder George Edwards spun out the company from a school coursework project. The cutting edge of technology allows us to innovate and improve the lives of all who are dependent on LPG. We work internationally to improve technical education, access to clean fuels and humanitarian aid. Bringing about social good in all its guises is critical to our mission and we are just getting started! The first in a long line of planned developments, we are active on 5 continents and have so much more to share with you. Scroll down to discover our backstory.
In 2012, George Edwards is 16 and starting his final school engineering course in the cathedral city of Canterbury. As part of an engineering course-work George took, his teacher suggested taking on a project to solve a problem, which as a Caravanner he knew all too well - how to detect how much gas you have.
George was recognised for his innovation in a number of forums, most notably in the Young Engineer for Britain competition. Because of this exposure, several hundred people got in touch asking whether Gas-Sense was for sale. This was George's inspiration to share his work with the world. The King’s School Canterbury provided critical support for George to register his first Patent.
Technology has always been our differentiator. During our commercialisation phase, we were able to try many different approaches, capitalising on the leading edge of development to create a cross-platform mobile application, an easy to manufacture and cost competitive sensor strip and a range of new product features.
It became clear that there was a burning need (no pun intended) for our technology internationally and that we would need to function as a global business to meet this demand. We then started building our network to do this. We were lucky enough to receive the patronage and support of a wide range of organisations, ensuring out logistics, supply chain and product testing is being managed by the world leaders in each industry.
At the start of 2015 we ran a crowdfunding campaign which launched our work to the world. This exposure really catapulted our profile, leading to support from Sir Richard Branson and many multi-national companies with a sector interest. Our products have been sold in over 19 countries to date.
Our industry connections grew enormously in 2015, prompting us to radically re-engineer much of our product and service back-end, to help us match up the gas supply chain and the end users, driving efficiency and value for both parties.
